  1. Stay on a routine: Summer vacation means later nights out and more sleeping in, making it easier to forego brushing and flossing. Sticking to a schedule can help prevent summer cavities and keep kids on track during back-to-school dental visits
  2. Say no to sugary drinks and snacks: Summer concerts, barbeques, graduation parties and sports tournaments are notorious for having sugary drinks and snack foods. make sure to control your family’s intake of lemonade, juice and soda, opting instead for water or milk on hot days.
  3. Make your back-to-school dental visits early: Many schools require back-to-school dental visits for certain grades; these exams are a great way to ensure the health of your child’s teeth. Make your child’s appointment early in the summer to avoid the end of August rush.
